Touchard-Lafosse, G. (tö-chär’-lä-fos’). A French novelist and miscellaneous writer; born at La Châtre, 1780; died at Paris, 1847. Among his very numerous writings are: ‘Political Puppets’ (5 vols., 1829); ‘Chronicles of the Œil-de-Bœuf’ (8 vols., 1829–33), a collection of scandalous anecdotes; ‘Jean Angot: A Story of the Sixteenth Century’ (2 vols., 1835); ‘Chronicles of the Opera’ (2 vols., 1854); ‘Recollections of Half a Century’ (6 vols.).
