Carl Ullmann (1796–1865)

Ullmann, Carl (öl’män). A German theological writer; born at Epfenbach in the Palatinate, March 15, 1796; died at Karlsruhe, Jan. 12, 1865. He was appointed professor in the University of Heidelberg in 1826. Among his works are: ‘Gregory of Nazianzus’ (1825); ‘Reformers before the Reformation’ (2 vols., 1841); ‘Historical or Mythical?’ (1838), a critique of Strauss’s ‘Life of Jesus.’
