Van Lennep, Henry John. An American missionary in Asia Minor; born in Smyrna, March 8, 1815; died in Great Barrington, MA, Jan. 11, 1889. He traveled extensively through the East, was familiar with many Oriental dialects, and published: ‘Ten Days among Greek Brigands’; ‘Travels in Asia Minor’ (1870); ‘Bible Lands’ (1879); ‘The Oriental Album.’
