Varin, Charles (vär-a‘). A French vaudeville writer; born at Nancy, 1798; died at Paris, 1869. Among his productions are: ‘Borrowed Wives’ (1832); ‘A Ball in High Life’ (1836); ‘My Sister Mirette’ (1861); ‘The Ill-Guarded Girls’ (1865); ‘Madame Ajax’ (1866); etc.
