Amasa Walker (1799–1875)

Walker, Amasa. An American reformer, merchant, statesman, and political economist; born at Woodstock, CT, May 4, 1799; died at North Brookfield, MA, Oct. 29, 1875. He was one of the editors of the Transactions of the Agricultural Society of Massachusetts (7 vols., 1848–54); and published his great work on political economy, ‘The Science of Wealth,’ in 1866.
