Albert Smith Bickmore (1839–1914)

Bickmore, Albert Smith. An American naturalist and writer of travels; born at St. George’s, ME, March 1, 1839; died on Aug. 12, 1914. An extensive traveler in the East, he founded and was curator of the Museum of Natural History at Central Park, New York. Besides scientific publications, he wrote: ‘Travels in the East Indian Archipelago’ (1869); ‘A Journey from Canton to Hankow’ (1868); etc.
