Francis Ellingwood Abbot (1836–1903)
Abbot, Francis Ellingwood. An American philosophical writer and journalist; born at Boston, 1836; died on Oct. 23, 1903. Besides magazine articles, he wrote: ‘Scientific Theism’ (1886); ‘The Way out of Agnosticism’ (1890). He was for a number of years editor of the liberal journal, The Index.
