Robert de Bonnières (1850–1905)
Bonnières, Robert de (bôn-yār’). A French journalist and novelist; born at Paris, April 7, 1850; died in 1905. He commenced his literary career as contributor to Paris journals of spirited but waspish biographies of contemporary men; these were collected and published in three successive volumes of ‘Memoirs of To-day.’ His novels are full of transparent allusions to noted persons, and have had a very great vogue. In one of them, ‘The Monarch,’ he portrays high Jewish society in Paris.
