Mary Louise Booth (1831–1889)

Booth, Mary Louise. An American writer; born in Yaphank, Long Island, April 19, 1831; died in New York City, March 5, 1889. She was editor of Harper’s Bazar from 1867 until her death; translated many novels and histories, including Gasparin’s ‘Uprising of a Great People,’ and H. Martin’s ‘History of France’ (6 vols., 1880).
