Ferdinande, Baroness von Brackel (1835–1905)

Brackel, Ferdinande, Baroness von (bräck’el). A German novelist born in the Circle of Warburg, Westphalia, Nov. 25, 1835; died in 1905. She published a volume of ‘Poems’ in 1873; and thereafter devoted herself to prose fiction, containing opinions regarding the social and labor questions from the Catholic point of view. Many of her tales have been translated into foreign languages. Among her stories are: ‘The Spinning-Master of Carrara’; ‘Princess Ada’; ‘Of the Ancient Stock’; ‘In the Battle of the Time.’
