Alden Bradford (1765–1843)

Bradford, Alden. An American historian and journalist; born at Duxbury, MA, Nov. 19, 1765; died at Boston, Oct. 26, 1843. Originally a Congregational divine, he became Secretary of State of Massachusetts (1812–24), and edited the Boston Gazette (1826). He wrote: ‘History of Massachusetts, 1764–1820’; ‘History of the Federal Government’; etc.
