Edvard Brandes (1847–1931)

Brandes, Edvard (brän’des). A Danish dramatist, story-writer, and essayist; born in Copenhagen, Oct. 21, 1847; died in 1931. Of his plays, ‘A Visit,’ ‘Love,’ and ‘Under the Rule’ are best known; while studies on art subjects denote his critical taste, and ‘The Politician’ shows him capable of well-planned and well-told fiction.
