Annie Brassey (1839–1887)

Brassey, Annie, Lady. An English descriptive writer; born in London in 1839; died at sea on the Sunbeam, Sept. 14, 1887. After her marriage she spent half of her life at sea, on Lord Brassey’s yacht the Sunbeam. She was buried at sea. Her travels are interesting, popular, and have passed through many editions. They are: ‘Natural History of a Voyage on the Sunbeam’ (1878); ‘Sunshine and Storm in the East’ (1879); ‘Tahiti’ (1882); ‘In the Trades, the Tropics, and the Roaring Forties’ (1884); and ‘Three Voyages in the Sunbeam’ (1886).
