Lawrence Johnstone Burpee (1873–1946)

Burpee, Lawrence Johnstone. A Canadian essayist and historian; born at Halifax, NS, in 1873; died in 1946. Among other works he published: ‘Charles Heavysege’ (1902); ‘The Search for the Western Sea’ (1907); ‘Flowers from a Canadian Garden’ (1910); ‘By Canadian Streams’ (1910); ‘Index and Dictionary of Canadian History’ (1911); ‘Pathfinders of the Great Plains’ (1914) in the ‘Chronicles of Canada’ series.
