George Bush (1796–1859)

Bush, George. An American Swedenborgian clergyman, and Bible commentator; born in Norwich, VT, June 12, 1796; died in Rochester, NY, Sept. 19, 1859. He graduated from Dartmouth in 1818, and studied theology at Princeton, NJ, from 1820 to 1822. In 1831 he became professor of Hebrew and Oriental literature in the University of New York, Among his works are: ‘Life of Mohammed’ (1832); ‘Hebrew Grammar’ (1835); ‘Bible Commentaries’ (1840).
