Ernst Trumpp (1828–1885)

Trumpp, Ernst (trömp). A German Orientalist; born at Ilsfeld, Würtemberg, March 13, 1828; died at Munich, April 5, 1885. His principal work is ‘The Adi Granth; or, The Holy Scriptures of the Sikhs, Translated from the Original Gurmukhi’ (1877). He wrote also: ‘The Language of the so-called Caffres in the Hindu Caucasus’; ‘Sindi Literature: The Divan of Abd-ul-Latif’ (1866); ‘The Baptism Book of the Ethiopian Church’ (1876).
