Juan Antonio Llorente (1756–1823)

Llorente, Juan Antonio Don (lyō-rān’tā). A Spanish writer of history; born at Rincon de Soto in Andalusia, March 30, 1756; died at Madrid, Feb. 5, 1823. His greatest work is the celebrated ‘Critical History of the Spanish Inquisition’ (4 vols., 1815–17). He wrote also ‘Political Portraits of the Popes’; ‘Memoirs Relating to the History of the Spanish Revolution’ (3 vols., 1815–19).
