Madame de Rémusat (1780–1821)

Rémusat, Claire Élisabeth Jeanne de (rā-mü-zä’). A French essayist; born at Paris in 1780; died in 1821. She was the mother of Charles de Rémusat, and companion to the Empress Josephine. She wrote an ‘Essay on the Education of Women’ (1824). Her ‘Memoirs’ are celebrated.
