Richard Watson Gilder (1844–1909)

Gilder, Richard Watson. An American poet, brother of Jeannette Leonard; born in Bordentown, NJ, Feb. 8, 1844; died in New York, Nov. 18, 1909. From 1881 he was editor-in-chief of The Century. His works include: ‘The New Day’ (1875); ‘The Celestial Passion’ (1887); ‘Lyrics’; ‘Two Worlds, and Other Poems’ (1891); ‘The Great Remembrance, and Other Poems’ (1893); ‘Five Books of Song’; ‘A Book of Music’ (1906).
