Two Songs from the Sanskrit: II. The Archer

Douglas Ainslie (b. 1838)

THE ARCHER, the Archer!

Though formless, alive;

His bow is of blossoms,

His arrows but five.

So mobile the mask and

So formless his mind:

How then can he harm me,

The Archer that ’s blind?

But the pain that I suffer

All doubting removes,

And the truth of this nonsense

’Tis loving that proves.
