A stage of etiolation in plant can be elaborated as the presence of non-green plastids called the etioplasts in plant tissues that normally contain plastids. With illumination de-etiolation occurs that causes the transition of etioplast to chloroplast in leaves and at seedling level there is a switch to photomorphogenic growth.
