For any angle, θ

1. sin2(θ)+ cos2(θ) = 12. sin(2θ) = 2 sin(θ) cos(θ)3. tanθ2=sin(θ)1+cos(θ)

Since,  sin2(θ)+ cos2(θ) = 1

Therefore,

cos(θ)=±1-sin2(θ)

Plug sin(θ) = 45, to get

cos(θ)=±1-452=±1-1625=±25-1625=±925=±35

But  θ lies in second quadrant and  cosine function gives negative values in second quadrant.

Hence,

cos(θ)=-35
