Question

A 0.200-g sample containing urea (FM 60.05) is analyzed by the Kjeldahl method. The ammonia is collected in 50.0mL of 0.05000 M H2SO4, and the excess acid is back titrated with 0.0500 M NaOH a procedure requiring 3.40mL. Calculate the percent urea in the sample. The reactions involved are:
H2SO4 + NaOH → Na2SO4 + 2H2O
2NH3 + H2SO4 → (NH4)2SO4
