A chemical reaction is based on on the enviroment of electrons amongst the reactents involved.now electrons are usually found in the region of the space around the nucleus informely called the elctron cloud. discuss how the reactivity of an element is affected by the trends availablein the perodic table
A
Modern Periodic table is based on atomic number , that is number of proton in an element . Periodicity of these elements defined various trends that are useful in defining many chemical reaction.
The most important trend is atomic size , which eventually effect the rest of the properties of elements . As we more down the group size of element increase as there is increase in shell number . However when we move from left to right along the period , size decrease because of increase in nuclear charge.
Size of element effect the electron cloud , that is if size of an element is small its nucleus will attract the electron powerfully and less electron will be available for reaction and inverse is the case with larger sized elements.
