A player throws a ball upwards with an initial speed of 25.4 ms-1
(a) What is the direction of acceleration during the upward motion of the ball?

Expert Answer

Whenever a body is thrown upward with any velocity, it is pulled back towards the surface of earth by the force of gravity. The deacceleration produced due to the force of gravity, reduced the velocity of the body and finally makes it zero at a certain height and then the body freely falls towards the surface of the earth under the influence of the force of gravity.

Throughout the upward motion, the acceleration of ball remains, a = - g = - 9.8 m/s^2

The minus sign re...
