The Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium or law was given for the populations in which the genotype and the allelic frequency remain constant over generations, in the absence of external evolutionary forces. There are five conditions required for the Hardy-Weinberg principle to work on a population, namely, no natural selection, presence of large population, no mutations, no immigration or emigration, and random mating. Furthermore, it is given that the population discussed in the problem is mating randomly.

p – It represents the allelic frequency of dominant allele.

q – It represents the allelic frequency of recessive allele.

p2 – It represents the genotypic frequency of the homozygous dominant allele (AA)

2pq – It represents the genotypic frequency for heterozygous form(Aa)

q2 – It represents the genotypic homozygous recessive allele’s frequency (aa).
