Arrange the following gases in order of increasing rate of effusion: C2H6, Ar, HCl, and PH3.

According to Graham's law the rate of effusion is inversely proportional to the square root of the molar mass of the gas molecule. Graham's law clearly says that smaller the molar mass, higher the rate of effusion.
