Expert Solution
Step 1

To convert the Fischer projection into perspective formula, firstly R and S confirmation is assigned to all the stereocentres present in the molecule on the basis of CIP rules and then the molecule is converted into perspective formula based on that confirmation.

The priority to the substituents attached to stereogenic centers is given by following these rules:

Higher priority is given to the atom with higher atomic number.

When the atoms have same atomic number, then the atomic number of the next atom bonded is considered.

Substituent with highest priority is numbered as 1 and with lowest priority is numbered as 4.

In Fischer projection, the R,S configuration can be assigned as given below.

On moving from higher priority to lower priority substituent in clockwise direction and 4th priority group should be in vertical position, then the compound is assigned with R configuration. If the 4th priority group is in horizontal position, then the compound is assigned with S configuration.

On moving from higher priority to lower priority substituent in anti-clockwise direction and 4th priority group should be in vertical position, then the compound is assigned with S configuration. If the 4th priority group is in horizontal position, then the compound is assigned with R configuration.
