Describe How to analyze situations in which an object is deformed by tension,
compression, pressure, or shear?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Tension:

Tension is the pulling force which acts opposite to the gravity. Generally tension is represented as t=mg, where m is the mass of the object and g is the acceleration due to gravity. If any object  is hang with a string then tension is generated in the string. So,when any object is deformed by the tension it will either stretched or in other words it can pull away.

Compression:-

Compression is the application of force in such a way that the volume of the object is decreased, and hence the pressure increases. If any object is deformed by the compression it may shortens or its volume will decrease or squeezed.
