Does sound tend to bend upward or downward when its speed is less near the ground?

As the air is hot in the daytinme near the ground, the sound waves travel away from the ground from hotter air to cooler air as its speed decreases whereas the waves move towards the ground at night time as the temperature falls and the velocity decreases. Conclusion: The sound travels upward in the day time and downward at night time as the velocity decreases.
