Covalent bond is chemical bond formed by sharing of electrons.  Orbital present on one atom overlaps with the orbital of another atom and shared pairs of electrons lie in the overlapping region to form a covalent bond.

In a covalent bond, greater orbital overlap between the molecular orbitals leads to smaller bond length which in turn, leads to the formation of stronger bond.

Hence, the given statement is false.
