Hello! I am reading about Carolous Linnaeus to discuss with my class tommorow. 

The question goes like this: 

Carolus Linnaeus, the father of taxonomy, classified groups of organism into natural categories. Explain his work.

Carolus Linnaeus is the Father of taxonomy. He studied more than 10,000 species of bacteria, fungi, plants, and animals and classified them. He was the one who introduced the binomial system of nomenclature. The necessity to give common classification and names to animals and plants arose because the common names of a particular plant or animal varied from country to country.

Step 2

Carolus Linnaeus hails from Southern Sweden and published his book “Systema Naturae”. The book describes the classification of several living organisms. For all the species he has names, the binomial nomenclature is followed by “Linn.” or “L”. The binomial nomenclatures of several species today were named by Linnaeus only.

Step 3

Linnaeus published several books in later stages of his life.

Philosophia Botanica- It contains the complete survey of all the taxonomy system he had been using for his earlier works.

Nutrix Noverca- In this book he worked on to emphasize the importance of mother breastfeeding her own baby and that wet nurse should not be employed by citing examples of wild animals.
