Are they referring to the 4 general types of supply chain strategies? Nowadays, many businesses depend on manufacturers. There are four elements of supply chain management systems that are needed to be implemented for a successful completion of the whole supply chain management system.

  1. Integration: Planning is considered to be the first step for any successful long term project. A task becomes easier if group activity is being conducted. Here, setting up integration means the persons who are involved in manufacturing process should coordinate and integrate together to make the product ready for the distribution phase. If the communication is improved, then the errors can be reduced, in which huge cost gets involved along with time. When everyone will be working together, the leaders can easily evaluate and analyse the entire operation and can make the necessary changes by identifying the weak areas.
  2. Operations: It is the backbone of the supply chain system, because supply chain involves day to day working, managing the operations. Many manufacturers’ uses lean manufacturing strategies where weak areas are being identified, so that work can be done more efficiently by improving those areas. For example, the work hours can be reduced, when the production slows down.
  3. Purchasing: Until and unless you will purchase something from other suppliers, you cannot start the next stage of manufacturing products. So, selecting the right purchasing personnel plays a key role, to acquire materials on time, whenever needed, to eliminate any delay in production, to maintain optimum level of stock, so that company’s budget do not increase.
  4. Distribution: This is the end line of supply chain process, from where customers can directly buy the products from shops, which may be through online or offline. Here, there is a need of a structured shipping process. Many companies nowadays using logistics software for managing shipments. If the products are handled correctly, then movement of products from warehouse to customers become easy and smooth.
