The genotype is a part of the genetic makeup of a cell containing two alternative types of alleles which are responsible for the determination of its phenotypic or external character. An allele is a viable DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) transcript that has a particular location (locus) on the homologous chromosome and controlling the same characteristics such as flower color but producing different effects that are purple and white.
