Question

If an enzyme is out of the normal rnage in the areas of the digestive system where the enzyme is active, how would the catabolism of the substrate of the enzyme be affected?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Enzymes are the proteinaceus substances which are capable of catalysing chemical reactions of biological origin without themselves undergoing any change.  They are also known as biocatalysts.

The biochemical upon which an enzyme acts is known as substrate, if two such biochemicals are involved then they are called reactants. The chemical formed after the reaction is termed as product. The final product is also known as end product. The part of the enzyme that is responsible for catalyzing biochemical reaction is known as active site.
