If an object is free falling, how would you conceptualize momentum and kinetic energy in this event to help me see what is going on from the physics perspective?

Step 1

As an object falls from the rest, the gravitational potential energy is converted into kinetic energy. The conservation law of energy states that the sum of the kinetic energy and the potential energy of the free falling object at any point of time is equal to the total energy of the system.

Step 2

The gravitational potential energy at the initial state is converted in kinetic energy just before the object touches the ground.
