Triple sugar iron fermentation test (TSI slant) is a microbiological test, which is roughly named for its ability to test a particular micro organism’s ability to ferment sugars, thereby producing hydrogen sulfide. It is done in a test tube containing agar, and a pH sensitive dye (phenol red).
