The male reproductive system:
It includes the external and internal male reproductive structure. These include testes, scrotum, sex glands, spermatic ducts, and penis. These organs work together and perform the specialized functions. These include the production and discharge of sperm, the male gamete, male sex hormones and the other constituents of the semen.
The accessory glands:
These are the glands present accessory to the main organs of the male reproductive system. The accessory glands are the prostate gland, the bulbourethral glands, and the seminal vesicles. These glands help in the secretion of fluids which are drained into the urethra.
Description of accessory glands along with their functions is given below:
a). Prostate gland:
It is a walnut-sized gland that is situated under the urinary bladder but in the front of rectum. This gland provides an extra fluid to the ejaculated fluid.
It also helps in the nourishment of the sperm. The urethra transports the ejaculated fluid through the prostate gland center to be expelled at the orgasm.
