Regarding Circles, I am tasked with writing the standard form of an equation and general form of the equation. r=10, C(-6,8) I understand the standard form of the equation of the circle: (x-h)2 + (y-k)2 = r2 Applying that method, I arrive at the answer (x+6)2 + (y-8)2 = 100. I do not understand how the general form of the equation arrives at: x2 + 12x + 36 +y2 - 16y + 64=100. What is confusing me is the professor didn't explain how to go from Standard to General.  I do not understand how to arrive at 12x and not 36x.  And I do not understand how to get to 36 with no x.  I do not understand the same for y at -16y and then 64 with no y. Why would you add 6+6 and 8+8?

Regarding Circles, I am tasked with writing the standard form of an equation and general form of the equation.

r=10, C(-6,8)

I understand the standard form of the equation of the circle: (x-h)2 + (y-k)2 = r2

Applying that method, I arrive at the answer (x+6)+ (y-8)2 = 100.
