A symmetric data refers to when data is in bell shaped and both sides of the distribution are equal to each other. A skewed distribution refers to when both sides of the distribution is not equal to each other.

Step 2

When the data is not skewed which means data is symmetrical, when data is symmetrical in such situation mean is equal to median equals to mode. We more often use the mean or also consider it as much better measure of central tendency as mean is uses to calculate other statistics.
