Step 1

The shoulder joint is a ball and socket joint. It is between the scapula and the humerus. Due to its stability, it is the most mobile joint in the body. There are certain muscles that give stability to the shoulder joint.

Synergist muscles act on movable joints. These muscles help in the action of agonist (prime mover muscle). They stabilize the joint around which movement is occurring and help to create the movement.

Flexion is the action in which the angle at the joint decreases. Certain muscles are involved in flexion. Example of this is flexion of forearm. In this flexion, the forearm is moving towards the upper arm and hence reducing the angle at the joint.

Step 2

Shoulder joint stability is contributed by several factors. These factors include rotator cuff muscles, glenoid labrum, ligaments, and biceps tendon. In these factors, the most important one is rotator cuff muscles. Rotator cuff muscles are a group of four muscles, which include, supraspinatus, infraspinatus, tees minor and subscapularis. Rotator cuff muscles surround the shoulder joint.

Brachioradialis is the superficial muscle in the lateral forearm. It acts as...
