Question
The heights of water spinaches, Ipomoea aquatica in Malaysia without fertilizer application are
normally distributed with mean of 20 cm and standard deviation of 5 cm.
a) Find the probability that a randomly selected water spinach has a height greater than 35 cm.
The average heights of water spinaches can reach up to 35cm with standard deviation twice than the
water spinaches without fertilizer. Water spinach with height greater than 40 cm is considered as very
tall. A new batch of water spinaches is applied with fertilizer and one water spinach is selected at
random.
b) Find the probability that the water spinach height is more than 45 cm but less than 55 cm.
c) Half of very tall water spinach's new batch recorded heights greater than h cm. Find the value
of h.
