Two ice skaters, with masses of 40.0 kg and 75.0 kg , are at the center of a 60.0 m -diameter circular rink. The skaters push off against each other and glide to opposite edges of the rink. If the heavier skater reaches the edge in 10.0 s , how long does the lighter skater take to reach the edge?

Step 1

Given that the masses of the skaters are m_{1}=40.0kg, and m_{2}=75.0kg, and the diameter of the circular rink is d=60m.

The distance travelled by each skater is equal to the radius of the circular rink since the skaters are initially at the center of the circular rink and they move to the opposite edges by pushing themselves.

Write the expression for velocity of heavier skater by pushing each other.

Step 2

Write the conservation of...
