What effect does room temperature affect the stomata? Does it open or close?

Stomata are the minute pore or small opening that arises from the kidney shaped guard cells of plant leaves. Stomata are present in the upper and lower surfaces of the leaves. Stomata are the major organelle that is involved in the photosynthetic reaction. Generally, stomata will be closed but only open when needed.

Step 2

The opening and closing of stomata mainly depends upon four factors. Those are light, temperature, water content of epidermal cells and mineral elements. The effect of temperature affects the permeability of guard cells and affects the osmotic phenomenon which is mainly responsible for movement of guard cells. Stomata are closed during normal condition. The increase in temperature causes stomata to open.
