Heterotrophic nutrition is a type of nutrition. In this type, organisms depend directly or indirectly upon other organisms (mainly autotrophs) for their survival. All the animals and non-photosynthetic plants show heterotrophic nutrition. These organisms are known as heterotrophs. On the basis of feeding habits, heterotrophs are classified as herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores.
