Question

Why are windows of airplane smaller than bus windows?

Expert Solution
Step 1

On moving up the altitude the pressure decreases. Since the pressure is low at high altitude human beings cannot breathe without aids. Airplanes maintain the inside pressure of the air equivalent to the earth's surface so that the normal human being can breathe properly.

Step 2

The inside pressure of the airplanes is high in comparison to the outside pressure of the window. Thus, the windows experience a net force toward outward. In the bus the outside pressure is same or there is a very slit difference thus the window of the bus does not experience any resultant force.
