Summary Introduction

To determine:

General impressions about the duration of eye contact, body posture, voice quality and other self-observations after recording one’s own presentation.

Introduction:

Body language is a combination of gesture, postures, movements, and expressions. One must use it to engage with the people around and try to understand them in a positive way. It is used to convey information without the use of words but rather speaking through actions. Behaviour is nothing but indirect unspoken words. Eyes, face, and body are carriers of nonverbal messages.

Assume you are holding a business meeting with five people, each from a different continent (North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia), you being one of them. Which steps would you take to ensure that everyone is comfortable and that communication is good between everyone? Give a personal experience.
What are some clues that lead you to believe that when you are talking, the other person might not be listening?  What should you do? Think about a presentation, meeting, or class that you attended where you thought the speaker was boring (or ineffective).  What did this person do, or not do that made him/her ineffective? What are some common communication challenges with virtual teams?  How would you overcome these challenges?
