Online Transaction Processing (OLTP):

• It is software processing in which everyday transactions become part of a company’s database.
• The current production data is maintained for a company by using OLTP.
• OLTP is used in business such as banks, airlines, and merchants.

Online analytical processing (OLAP):

• It is software processing that provides analysis for data stored in the data warehouses.
• It is used for analysis of data by the company.
• Data for analysis are generally stored in data warehouses that can be used for data mining – extraction of data for knowledge.
• OLAP is an example of Business Intelligence (BI) systems.

Business Intelligence (BI) System:

• BI systems are tools used to examine or inspect and prepare reports and dashboards on all the company’s structured or unstructured data present in the data warehouse.
• It is used for querying and reporting of business data.
