Chapter 1, Problem 14RQ
Summary Introduction
To review:
Definition of the following biological terminologies:
FAD
Hydride Ion
Energy
Electron transport pathway
Coenzyme
Introduction:
FAD stands for Flavin Adenine Dinucleotide. The hydrogen atom when charged is called hydride ion. Work can be done only in the presence of energy. Activities like walking and running are energy dependent. Few reactions that produce energy by oxidation and reduction reactions are a part of the electron transport pathway. Enzymes need some factors for working efficiently, which are called coenzymes.
