Introduction: Marine biology is the branch of biology that deals with the study of marine organisms, their interactions and behaviors. Marine biology incorporates basic biology and technology to acquire a better understanding of the marine life.

Due to advent of technology in the last 200 years, there was a large procurement of knowledge about the marine life. Technology such as GPS helped to navigate the ways across the seas. Innovation in sampling techniques, preservation of samples, and microscopy helped to get better idea about the morphology and anatomy of marine life. Innovation in transportation modes such as flights and ships helped to travel to inner parts of ocean. Invention of scuba diving devices helped to explore deeper parts of the ocean. More knowledge about geography also helped to get a better understanding of ocean life. Due to the above reasons advances in marine biology is major in the last 200 years.
